Cumberland County Divorce Records
Divorce cases are heard in the Family Court Division of the District Court. Proceedings from such cases are documented as divorce records.
Divorce records in Cumberland County are public and may be accessed by interested individuals. A divorce record search may provide details such as the names of both parties, the case number, the filing date, the date the divorce decree was issued, and the county where the case was heard. It may also include documents filed during the proceedings, such as the complaint for divorce; response/answer; orders concerning child visitation, child support, spousal support; and the final divorce judgment.
Anyone who needs a copy of a divorce judgment may contact the Cumberland County Superior Court Clerk’s Office (the designated custodian of district court records).
Divorce certificates, however, are issued by the North Carolina Department of Public Health. Requests for a divorce certificate should be directed to that department.
